Weather and Climate

New Zealand's seasons are the opposite to those in the northern hemisphere. Spring is from September to November, Summer from December to January, Autumn/Fall from March to May and Winter from June to August. Whilst New Zealand is an all year round destination, most people travel to New Zealand between October and April.

Because New Zealand is surrounded by ocean, our climate is temperate, without harsh extremes. In summer, average tempratures are approximately 25°C, with maximums not exceeding 35°C, whilst in winter, average daytime temperatures are approximately 10–15°C.
